This information is listed in the game, but I'm providing it here for the sake of helpfulness. You may be fighting a battle in the game and forgot what something is, so you can just come here to refresh your memory. Status ailments in this game are more serious than in other mobile games, and they need to be taken care of immediately in battle or you risk having a very long and/or failed battle. If you don't have a unit like Lukiel (who can heal ailments with her Special) make sure your healer or tank can heal specific ailments you may receive in that battle, especially the more serious ones like Stun, Illness, or Curse.
Poison (the green bubbles) - reduces HP per tick
Blind (the purple eye) - reduces chance to physically hit the enemy (it's pretty severe)
Silence (the chat bubble) - prevents the use of magic
Curse (the red skull) - prevents the use of abilities
Stun (the lightning bolts) - prevents movement or action for a period of time
Illness (the pale figure) - prevents HP restoration
All ailments work on four levels. Weak (-1, WEAK), normal (0), resistant (+1, RES), or immune (+2, NIL).
Certain items you equip, certain skills you set, and certain arks further influence ailment resistance.
Also, just because you are NIL to ailments like Curse does not mean you can't be Sealed, which is a special ailment bosses put on you which prevents both magic and abilities.
Most items, skills, and arks will increase your resistance by +1, meaning you go from weak to normal, normal to resistant, or resistant to immune. However, there are a select few skills you get through arks that actually improve your ailment resistance by +2, meaning they can transform weakness into resistance, or normal to immune (such as Curse Nil, from Archangel Smile). Other abilities like Illness Resist (from White Laboratory) add +1 to your resistance.
